○第四十帖　御法 大病後の紫の上は、健康状態が思わしくなく、出家願望も源氏に許されませんでした。紫の上発願の法華経供養が行われた時は帝や夕霧、東宮、后の宮たちをはじめ、多くの人が志を寄せた盛大な催しとなり、大勢の人々から愛された紫の上は、最後に源氏と明石の中宮に看取られて、露の消え入るように静かに亡くなりました。 ・The 40 th Story - Minori After suffering a severe illness, Murasaki-no-Ue, with her declining health, longed to enter the priesthood. However, Genji denied her wish. At the Buddhist service preying for her unfulfilled wish, Mikado, Yugiri, Tohgu, Kisaki-no-Miya and so many people gathered together for her. Full of love from a lot of people, and with Genji and Akashi-no-Chugu at her deathbed, she passed away quietly like a dewdrop evaporating into the air.
